Two books are included in this volume. They are presented in reverse order of how they appear in the book description. Each makes for exciting reading that keeps you turning the page. The main characters are well drawn and likeable. The action is fast paced and satisfying.Each book could benefit from careful editing to fix misspellings (e.g. "whoa" is not spelled "woah." It just isn't.), missing words, and words used incorrectly (e.g. "eerie" when "aerie" was meant.) These days, the reader will find similar mistakes even in works by major authors from the big publishing houses. These books feature rather a lot of them. No author should be satisfied with allowing this many errors in his or her work. Quality is not only an issue of pride, but of marketing. You want people to read more of your work.Both books contain a number of inconsistencies that should have been worked out before publishing. Otherwise, credibility suffers, undermining the entire story. How could two diplomats be subjected to a "brutal" search and a satellite phone on one of them not be found? If there is no power anywhere, how would a boy use a soldering iron or the alarms go off in a pharmacy? And so on. This sort of thing insults the reader's intelligence.Make no mistake; I enjoyed these books and read right through them. But the author will enjoy more success if these issues are worked out. Couldn't get past the cursing so stopped reading. Also, it struck me as odd that the secret service and a weather tracker plane pilot and the police all weren't sure what happened. Even my husband, who doesn't read PA books, knows what an EMP would look like.
